We have a dedicated staff team but often they have the opportunity to resettle, return to their home country or find other work locally. We therefore have vacancies for paid staff positions. Please see our Employment page for current vacancies.
Refuge Egypt also depends on long and short-term volunteers. Our volunteers have included: long-term volunteers, young people on a gap year before university, individuals searching for spiritual leading and direction, expatriates living in Egypt with free time to serve, as well as short-term visitors from various organizations, universities and churches around the world. All volunteers need to be self sufficient/ supported in terms of their travel and living expenses. If you reside in the Cairo area and would like to volunteer your time in any of the following areas, please contact us at

Teaching, Literacy and Adult Education Program Refuge Egypt provides English classes for asylum seekers and refugees. The time commitment for teachers is not great and we use a very user-friendly curriculum (Interchange). Even if you are new to teaching English, you will find the experience rewarding and the interaction personally fulfilling. Classes take place during the evenings twice per week in Zamalek, Ain Shams and Maadi. For more information and an application form, please email:
